Dear Foundation Supporter:
Across the state of Oklahoma, citizens recognize the importance of our state's children receiving the best public education possible. It is this belief that led to the organization of The Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence, founded in 1985 by David L. Boren. The vision of its local education foundation program is to encourage and support academic excellence in local public schools through private support.
With the Oklahoma Foundation of Excellence as its role model, a group of highly motivated Newcastle citizens has now organized the Newcastle Education Foundation. This foundation is currently under registration as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and will operate according to Oklahoma statute.
It is the intent of the Foundation to raise funds primarily through private contributions and fundraising projects. The funds raised will be distributed mainly for the Grants for Teachers program. This program provides up to $2,000 per grant for specific school projects that are not funded by the local Board of Education. The funds will be distributed for use in the Newcastle Public School system only. The Foundation also intends to promote a scholarship program as the endowment increases.
The Newcastle Education Foundation has officially begun its initial fundraising drive and is requesting donations from local residents and business owners, as well as corporations and individuals throughout the country. We hope that we can count on you for a comfortable contribution to assist us in reaching the goals set out in our mission statement at the bottom of this letter.
Please take a few moments to read about our vision for excellence in education through Newcastle Public Schools. We greatly appreciate your generosity and look forward to a successful venture for our children. Please feel free to contact us should you have any questions or need additional information at 405/919-0202 or 405/615-0166.
Sincerely,
Kris McKay
Chairman of the Board 2007-2008
