The 5th Annual Newcastle Education Foundation Fund raising Banquet will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2009. This is our largest fund raising event for the year and it is our goal to raise enough money to fund all grant requests this year. Our local Newcastle Education Foundation was modeled after the Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence (OFE), founded in 1985 by David L. Boren while serving Oklahoma as a U.S.Senator. Through its Local Education Foundation, the OFE has successfully reached out to more than 150 communities, just like Newcastle, all across Oklahoma and has helped them build strong Foundations, which promote the same values in education excellence. Local members of the Newcastle community saw the need to meet and exceed today's academic standards and set out to accomplish that goal by establishing the Newcastle Education Foundation in 2004. NEF is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization whose goal is to fund programs emphasizing new approaches to teaching and the development of innovative programs, which stimulate thought and expand the existing curriculum. The Foundation also intends to promote a scholarship program as the endowment increases.
